With over 300 acres of scenic Tennessee hills, creeks and a lake, Five Star Retreat offers a wide range of outdoor activities for your group to enjoy. Be sure and check out our Facebook Page for more photos from around the retreat.
Five Star Lake
The five-acre Five Star Lake is fully stocked with bass, bluegill and other fish, and is managed for quality fishing. The lake also has a lighted half-mile groomed trail around it for walking or running, as well as a large dock for swimming and other activities.
Canoeing and Kayaking
Choose from canoes, paddleboats, or sit-on-top kayaks and paddle around the lake. Kids will enjoy paddling under the 20-foot fountain to stay cool in the summertime. In addition, Five Star Retreat is only a few miles from canoe rental facilities on the Piney, Harpeth, and Duck rivers.
Big Spring Creek
Big Spring Creek stays clear and cool throughout the year and is popular with our guests particularly in the summer, when they enjoy swimming in one of several nice swimming holes, diving from the rocks adjacent to the holes, or swinging from a rope swing. You may also enjoy fly-fishing for trout in some of the pools.
Hiking and Riding Trails
With permission from Five Star Retreat owners, bring your ATVs, bicycles, or horses and enjoy riding nearly 20 miles of trails, ranging from flat easy trails meandering through the creek to steep, challenging trails for more advanced riders. Or all our guests can enjoy hiking on trails overlooking the creek, birdwatching, and viewing other wildlife, including lots of deer, turkey, owls, geese, ducks, and even big blue herons and beavers.
Be sure to ask about reserving our pool when you book the Lodge or cabins! The large pool is lighted and heated and may be reserved separately for your event (additional charges apply and guest must sign a waiver.). There is also lounge seating, chairs and a wood-burning firepit on the pool deck, where guests can stay warm on cooler evenings as they relax by the warm pool.
Hunting and Fishing
(By invitation only) Each hunting season, we offer the Lodge as a "home base" for hunters hunting deer and turkey in various parts of Hickman County. We have several rifle ranges (100, 200, 250, 500, and 600 yards) for sighting in rifles, and we also have a pistol range near the Lodge (scheduled shooting only).
Five Star Retreat has an abundance of wildlife that you would expect to see in the area, including deer, turkey, doves, quail, geese, ducks, raccoons, opossums, etc. If you are quiet and watchful, you may also catch a glimpse of one of our big blue herons, barred owls, beavers, groundhogs, or armadillos. So be sure and bring your binoculars when you visit.
